The Institute for Art and Healing has a physical gallery space, called Commonweal Gallery, and an online gallery presence, called the Art Circle—both aimed at furthering the field and practice at the intersection of art and healing.
Open Monday-Friday, 9 am – 5 pm or by appointment
Commonweal Gallery is a 1,500-square-foot gallery located in the Commonweal Administrative Building in Bolinas, California. Starting in 1997, the Gallery has shown between two and six exhibitions a year, focused on the ability of art to heal our bodies, minds, and souls.
The gallery has 30-foot ceilings, large north- and south-facing windows, and unique detail from the historic nature of the building. Though not open during the weekends (only open during business hours and by appointment) the space is used as an events venue, with hundreds of people passing through each year to experience and enjoy the exhibits. To find us, see our maps and directions.
Art Circle is an online gallery, a virtual gathering place for artists and collectors who wish to support the Commonweal Cancer Help Program, a week-long retreat for people with cancer. All of the art on the Art Circle online gallery has been created by cancer survivors and those touched by cancer.
